The Story of Smokey D Baby Dogga
For over 41 years, photographer and author Lil Arnold has dedicated his career to creating family, children's, and pet portraits, preserving cherished memories for thousands of families.
Born in New Albany, Ohio, Lil Arnold welcomed Smokey into his life when she was just 10 weeks old. Together, they traveled from city to city, working in major retail stores and meeting families, children, pets, and friends from all walks of life.
Then came the moment that changed everything.
During a family photo session, a young child asked the photographer, "What's your dog's name?"
The photographer smiled and replied, "Her name is Smokey..." Then, in a playful voice, he added, "...D Baby Dogga."
The little boy paused for a second, smiled, burst into laughter, and exclaimed,
"Oh! Smokey D Baby Dogga! I get it!"
Everyone laughed, and from that joyful moment on, Smokey D Baby Dogga was born.
After retiring from professional photography, Lil Arnold and Smokey began a brand-new adventure—creating the Smokey D Baby Dogga children's book series.
Today, Smokey and her friends inspire children through stories of kindness, friendship, imagination, courage, and fun, encouraging young readers to believe that every adventure begins with a smile and every friend has a story.
